Fundraising for the Furzedown Project
Sponsored events
We are very grateful to supporters who have taken on sponsored challenges to raise money for The Project.
Bob Broad and Alan Coles both undertook charity cycle rides for The Project. Read more about their amazing efforts on our News pages HERE
Bob said: “We are very fortunate to have such a charity in the Furzedown area and, as a volunteer driver there on Mondays for the swimming group, I know at first-hand how important it is for the people who go there; for support, exercise, help, and company.”
In 2017 Bob raised over £1,100 when he took part in the Ride London event – which 56 miles long – it was a fantastic thing to do for us and helped fund our exercise classes for a whole year.
Local Osteopath, Alan Coles cycled 300 miles in 24 hours from Newcastle to London in August. He also cycled the Tour De France’s 720km Trans Pyrenean Raid in 2012.
Fundraising events
Furzedown Annual Charity Events (FACE) has raised money from local quiz nights, sales and raffles to buy things we have needed such as a life-saving defibrillator for the community.
This vital machine can prevent brain-damage and save the life of someone who has just had a heart attack. It is there for everyone and will be a great asset for the whole community.
They have also recently bought a TV and media centre to help The Project put on talks and have interactive activities and have sponsored our minibus.

Thanks to other fundraisers and supporters, such as Graveney School, who have helped make a difference
Sales and Raffles
Our members often put on fundraising events, selling home-made cakes, jewellery, crafts (made by our Wednesday craft group) and quality bric-a-brac to raise money.
We’d like to thank everyone in the community who come to our sales, buy raffle tickets and provide gifts to sell or as prizes for our raffle.
Gifts in memory and legacies
We are thankful for all donations and gifts in memory of loved ones. Please also consider leaving a legacy to The Project in your Will, any amount can make a difference and will help us continue to provide activities, support and friendship for many years to come.
